A Sunday ride

It's been cool lately, almost too cool for enjoyable riding. Ottawa weather is so freakish! Wasn't it just last Saturday it was +30c, followed on Sunday by a shivery +13? Weird.

Today was good for riding, a bit on the blustery side with gusty wind but at least it was sort of warm, +16c. With that, I decided to head out for one of my quick rides. Kanata > Almonte > Pakenham > Kinburn > Carp, and home. It's a nice loop of about 6okms that, with a few stops for photographs, takes about 1 hour.

I stopped in Almonte to see how the waterfalls are flowing near the old Mill. The water was running high, so it was impressive.

I always like riding through the Carp Ridge area, with it's very smooth twisties on both Carp Road and the new Huntmar Road extension. Gotta watch my speed though, as the speed limit has been lowered to 60km/hr on most of the Carp Road twisties. I can understand why the locals may have been upset with speeding through here. Guilty as charged on too many occasions - and today was no different. I felt like I was in that old Sammy Hagar song "I Can't Drive 55"...especially when the twisties are singing.

I'm lucky I'm on the western edge of the Ottawa area 'burbs. Within three stop signs I'm out of suburbia and into countryside for some nice riding.
